Substance Use Concerns/Addiction

Has your substance use impacted your family, work, or professional obligations?

Are you in recovery and trying to find a trained professional who can support you in ways to prevent a relapse in the future?

Have you noticed changes in your personality or the presence of anxiety, depression, or lack of impulse control?

Oftentimes, those who struggle with substance abuse, compulsive behaviors and/or addiction often simultaneously struggle with experiences of anxiety, depression, unresolved grief, or a host of other issues. In identifying a provider to help you with compulsive behaviors and substance concerns, it is important to find a therapist who has skill both in compulsive behaviors/substance use issues, and training in understanding the complexity of co-occurring mental health concerns that may be present (depression, anxiety, PTSD, etc.)

Psychological Services staff have additional training and education in treating compulsive behaviors and addiction/substance use issues, and Dr. Bricker – Psychological Services’ director who holds senior-level certification as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor – provides treatment and consults regularly with the PS, PC staff to ensure that clients seeking treatment for these concerns get exceptional and scientifically-informed care in finding their way to freedom from these difficult to manage issues.
